Oil & Gas UK’s regional PILOT Share Fair in Norwich’s Dunston Hall Hotel on September 16 is attracting interest from supply chain companies in the East of England keen to hear about the business opportunities presented by Britain’s highly active oil and gas sector.

Stephen Marcos Jones, Oil & Gas UK’s business development director, explains: “As the government-industry forum, PILOT works on initiatives to help secure the next phase of North Sea oil and gas development. With the sector forecasting capital expenditure of around £13 billion in 2014, the regional PILOT Share Fair is an extremely effective way for companies in the region to find out how their expertise and innovative products and services could play a part in future projects on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

“East Anglia is a key hub for the UK oil and gas sector. This regional PILOT Share Fair provides an ideal arena for learning about the forward plans of two key North Sea operators, Apache North Sea Ltd and EnQuest, and to network with other companies in the sector.”

Peter Aldous, MP for Waveney, said: “The forthcoming PILOT Share Fair event gives East Anglian businesses an opportunity to get fully involved in the next phase of oil and gas exploration in the North Sea. There are many businesses, particularly in the Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth area, with considerable experience, expertise and highly skilled staff, well placed to service the oil and gas industry. It is important they are given every opportunity to tender for work and win contracts. The Share Fair will help them do this.”

David Edwards, chief executive officer, OGN, comments: “OGN delivers engineering, procurement, construction and installation services to the offshore oil and gas sector from a number of bases in the UK, including our facility in Lowestoft, and attendance at events like the PILOT Share Fair contributes greatly to the growth and success of our business. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet up with existing clients, make connections with new contacts and share intelligence on industry developments.”

The regional PILOT Share Fair in Norwich has attracted a high level of interest from businesses as diverse as fabricators, electrical safety providers, engineering firms and project management specialists who have already registered to attend.

Oil & Gas UK will also be holding a larger version of the business development event at its annual PILOT Share Fair in Aberdeen on November 5.
