US independent Apache has started to flow oil from the second development well on the Bacchus field in the UK Central North Sea.

Field partner Endeavour International reveled in its second quarter results on Thursday that the well had started production on 29 July and was currently flowing at a rate of about 8500 barrels per day at “significantly restricted” choke rates.

It added the well intersected Jurassic-aged Fulmar reservoir sandstones and logged 889 feet of net pay in three sections.

Output at the field on Block 22/06a started earlier this year when the first development well was brought online.

Endeavour said current combined production from the block was averaging about 13,000 bpd.

The field is being exploited using three horizontal subsea wells tied back to the Apache-operated Forties Alpha platform via a pipeline bundle.

Endeavour noted that the field partners had decided to observe reservoir performance before making a decision on the placement of the third development well to insure optimisation of the entire reservoir.

Apache operates Block 22/06a with a 50% interest while Endeavour holds 30% and First Oil 20%.

Endeavour also revealed in its second quarter results that the semi-submersible Diamond Ocean Nomad had arrived at the Rochelle field in the North Sea and has started operations to drill the first of two planned development wells.

It added the development was still on schedule for first production during the fourth quarter of the year.

Endeavour holds a 44% operated interest in the Rochelle field development which covers Blocks 15/26b, 15/26c and 15/27.
