Danish explorer Dong has reportedly lined up an exploration probe at the Musling prospect in the southern North Sea off Norway.

Compatriot contractor Maersk Drilling’s jack-up Maersk Giant has been chartered to drill the 3/7-9 well in Dong-operated production licence 289, at a location north-north-west of the Rokke and Trym fields, Petro Media reported.

The well will be drilled to a depth of about 3610 metres in a water depth of 65 metres to determine whether the targeted mid-Jurassic Bryne and Sandnes formations contain hydrocarbons.

Dong operates the licence with a 50% stake, with partner Bayerngas holding the remaining 50%.
